Linking Policy

The Federal Citizen Information Center(FCIC) links to

  • Federal government domains including .gov, .mil and .fed.us.
  • Quasi-government agencies
  • Websites created by public sector/private sector partnerships
  • State and local government sites
  • Some government-sponsored websites that end in .com, .org, or .net (e.g., www.usps.com for the U.S. Postal Service)

Links to Non-Government Websites

FCIC does not participate in reciprocal linking. On occasion, FCIC links to websites that are not government-owned or government-sponsored if these websites provide government information and/or services in a way that is not available on an official government website. The U.S. government, including the U.S. General Services Administration (the primary sponsoring federal agency of FCIC), neither endorses the external organizations, services, advice or products included in these website links nor guarantees in any way the accuracy or timeliness of information.

Notes on Links
  • Dead links are a problem for everyone. We know you want to take your visitor directly to a piece of information, but we would prefer that you link to our main page. It will always be there and we will try to make it easy for your visitors to find what they are interested in.
  • You don't need to get our permission to link to our site but we would love to hear from you if you do provide a link. Send us an e-mail.
  • FCIC reviews requests for reciprocal links on a case-by-case basis. Our general criteria for accepting such links is that they must provide information useful to many consumers and not require purchases or memberships to obtain this information. If you want to suggest your site for review, e-mail us.
