2008 Mercedes R Class Earns Top Ratings for Front and Rear Crash Protection

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Mercedes 2006-08 models earned "Good" ratings for front crashes among large SUVs with measurements showing good prevention of driver-side compartment intrusion and driver injury. In tests of side impact results in the same SUV category, Mercedes R Class vehicles earned "Acceptable" ratings in its 2006 vehicles with standard and additional optional side air bags, and an "Acceptable" ranking in 2007-08 models with standard sized airbags.
