Making important purchases, such as a car or home, can be one of the most difficult decisions you make. Before you begin you have to know just what your exact needs are and what you can afford. When it's time to do the actual shopping, there are other things you need to know to make the right decision. Also you may not be happy with your purchase after you've bought it and you will need to know where and how to file a complaint. Luckily, the Consumer Action Handbook can help you get through the process. To learn more, go to this month's Consumer Focus: Before You Buy.

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Although ovarian cancer is not the most common cancer, it is the most deadly. That's because it's usually diagnosed too late - due to vague symtoms and lack of an effective screening test to catch it in the early stage. If you want more information on symptoms, diagnosis, treatments, clinical trails and what to ask your doctor about ovarian cancer, then go to the National Cancer Institute's Ovarian Cancer page.
